Snow Las Vegas

Snowy Desert Landscapes

It’s not every day you see snowfall in Las Vegas. I was lucky enough to photograph these amazing snowy desert landscapes.

My snowy Las Vegas photos were also featured in SF Gate!

The Weather Service of Las Vegas Reported:

“The system dropped down from Canada, and it’s very cold and caused snow levels to fall to 2,500 feet” Stessman, who works in the weather service’s Las Vegas office, told SFGATE on the phone at 2:30 p.m. “We started getting reports of snow as early as 8:45 a.m., but it was probably snowing before then. In Henderson, there were reports of 1 to 2 inches.”

The Nevada Weather service also shared a collage of my photos.

You can’t really time these events but you can look at the weather reports days ahead of time as they are typically accurate. One thing to look out for his a storm front that is bringing in warmer air that stays just above freezing. This provides the perfect opportunity for low clouds and a mood that is sure to WOW people in your photography.

It felt like Yosemite in the middle of the desert. Who knows!? Our climate future may create a snowscape out of Las Vegas more often — which is a silver lining in the dark climate cloud that awaits us.

One thing is for sure, I’ll be on the lookout for more weather like this in the coming winters. I hope we get a foot or two of snow one day – that sure would be something … Las Vegas would need more plows for.

I can’t wait to share and add videos to this post – Stay tuned for all that. In the meantime enjoy these photos of snowy desert landscapes 🙂
